Staindrop

Staindrop

Staindrop is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the east of Barnard Castle.Lord Barnard of Raby Castle also resides on the border.

The village has one of the long greens typical of County Durham. The mediaeval church is impressive and contains fine effigies of the Neville family.

Today Staindrop boasts a modest but popular industrial estate which is used by mainly local businesses employing traditional crafts such as joinery and plumbing. They are helping to regenerate employment in the village as well as promoting the transition from traditional trades to a more sustainable set of products and services.
