Brendan Ryan (Dublin politician)

Brendan Ryan (Dublin politician)

Brendan Ryan is an Irish politician and member of the 23rd Seanad Éireann for the Labour Party. He was elected in 2007 to the 23rd Seanad by the Administrative Panel. He was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2007 general election in the Dublin North constituency. He is a younger brother of Seán Ryan, a former Teachta Dála (TD) for Dublin North.

An active member of the Labour Party since 1978 however had never held any elected office or public role before his election to the Seanad. His campaign literature claims he "sought the party nomination to take a more pro-active approach".

He was educated at DIT, UCD and DCU, receiving a degree in chemistry and masters’ degrees in food science and business administration. He currently works as an operations manager.

Originally from the Donabate/Portrane area, Brendan Ryan lives in Skerries where he has lived since he was married in the late-1970s.
