Peter Baker (author)

Peter Baker is a reporter who moved to the New York Times in Spring, 2008 [http://www.politico.com/blogs/michaelcalderone/0508/WaPos_Baker_joins_the_NY_Times_.html] . He was formerly with the Washington Post, for whom he wrote numerous front-page articles and interviewed leaders including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice [U.S. Dept. of State: "Interview With Peter Baker of The Washington Post" [http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2005/51313.htm] ] . He was the Post's White House correspondent during Pres. Bill Clinton's administration, and covered the Clinton-Lewinsky controversy. He wrote a book based on his coverage, "The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton" (Scribner, 2000).

He served as the Post's Moscow bureau chief, and wrote a book while there, "Kremlin Rising: Vladimir Putin and the Russian Counter-Revolution."

While with the Post, Baker spent several months covering events in the Middle East and was embedded with the command of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.

He attended Oberlin College, and was a reporter for the student newspaper, the Oberlin Review.
