Mark Alexander (baseball player)

Mark William Alexander (born December 6, 1980 in Independence, Missouri) is a right-handed pitcher in Minor League Baseball.

Alexander is a graduate of Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri] . He pitched four seasons at the University of Missouri. As a senior in 2004, he was 4-0 with 10 saves, setting a school single season mark with 35 appearances.

He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 20th round of the June 2004 MLB Draft. Started his professional career with the Ogden Raptors in 2004 and was one of the Pioneer League's top relievers, going 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA. He tied for second in the league in games pitched and ranked third in saves. In 2005, with the Vero Beach Dodgers he was rated by Baseball America as the Florida State League's best reliever. He led all Dodger minor leaguers in saves with 23, led Vero Beach in games pitched (52) and was selected the Dodgers Minor League Pitcher of the Month in June.

In 2006 he received MiLB.com's Double-A Relief Pitcher Award for his 3-2 record, 26 saves and 0.96 ERA in 40 games for the Jacksonville Suns. He received the Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award for the organizations best minor league pitcher and was ranked by Baseball America as the Dodgers' 20th overall prospect. He was selected to the Southern League All-Star Game and led all Dodger minor leaguers in saves for a second consecutive season.

He split 2007 between Jacksonville and the AAA Las Vegas 51s and is not currently assigned to any club for the 2008 season.
