Heokinaeia is a census-designated place comprising several neighborhoods located in the City & County of Honolulu and the Kookinaolaupoko District on the Island of Ookinaahu north of Kāneokinaohe. In Hawaiian the words "heokinae okinaia" mean washed away, alluding to a victory achieved by the populace against others from leeward Ookinaahu, aided by a tsunami that washed the combatants off the shore.Fact|date=August 2008

Heokinaeia includes Haokinaikū Valley and Heokinaeia Kea. The population was 4,944 at the 2000 census. The area is almost entirely one of homes and apartments. Parts of Heokinaeia lie along Kāneokinaohe Bay, but public access is non-existent owing to private ownership of the property behind the shore.

Notable in the Heokinaeia area are:
* Haokinaikū Valley, a former United States Coast Guard radio transmitter site with the Stairway to Heaven hiking trail.
* Heokinaeia Fishpond, cite web |url= http://www.hanahou.com/pages/magazine.asp?Action=DrawArticle&ArticleID=569&MagazineID=35 |title= Healing He‘eia |author= Catherine Lo |work= Hana Hou! Vol. 10 No. 3, June/July 2007 |publisher= Photographs by Brad Goda |quote= In the last three years, nearly 3,000 volunteers have helped in removing convert|30000|sqft|m2 of tangled mangroves, hauling the wood out of the pond for later use as either firewood or construction material. In that same period, they’ve repaired convert|600|ft|m of wall, restacking stones that had been disrupted by eels or invasive mangrove roots and bringing in thirty tons of coral fill and fifteen tons of rock fill for reinforcement. ] the largest remaining fishpond on Ookinaahu.

Heokinaeia Kea is a community and small, undeveloped valley separated from Heokinaeia by Heokinaeia Marsh and Kealohi Point. Heokinaeia Kea Small Boat Harbor, the only public pier and boat ramp on Kāneokinaohe Bay, is found here. Several fishponds have been restored in recent years. Although fishponds were developed on most of the islands, the largest concentrations were found in Keokinaehi Lagoon, Pearl Harbor, and Kāneokinaohe Bay on Ookinaahu.

The U.S. postal code for Heokinaeia and Heokinaeia Kea is the same as for Kāneokinaohe: 96744.
