"Rage" is a first-person shooter and driving video game in development by id Software. It will use the company's new id Tech 5 engine. [citeweb |author=Shacknews |title=id Reveals Rage For PC, Mac, PS3 and 360 |url=http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/48289] The game was announced on August 2, 2007 at QuakeCon. On the same day, a trailer for the game was released by Gametrailers.com. Information available so far indicates that the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world akin to those seen in the movies "Mad Max" and "The Road Warrior", as well as the games "Fallout" and "Fallout 2".citeweb

Reports indicate that id is developing "Rage" with a T-for-Teen rating in mind, and that the Xbox 360, PC, and Mac versions will ship on 2 discs, while the PS3 version will ship on one Blu-ray Disc.

John Carmack told Slashdot in 2007 that there is a Linux port under development, even if it's not yet ready for testing. [ [http://games.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=302231&cid=20671657 Is id Abandoning Linux?] from Slashdot] However, as with earlier games from the company, the Linux version will be offered as a separate download which requires the Windows disk's maps and game data to run.

On July 14, 2008, id announced its decision to partner with Electronic Arts for publication of "Rage". [ [http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/07/ea-id-team-to-p.html EA, id Join Forces for "Rage"] from Wired News] Regarding the status of the Linux port after this announcement, John Carmack said "It isn't a launch platform for us, but an executable may still show up."
