The Lake Victoria deepwater catfish ("Xenoclarias eupogon") is a species of catfish (order Siluriformes) of the family Clariidae. [http://www.iucnredlist.org 2006 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. ] Downloaded on 05 August 2007.] This species is endemic to Lake Victoria, and is found in deeper areas of the lake, from 12–20 metres (39–66 ft).FishBase species|genus=Xenoclarias|species=eupogon|year=2008|month=Jan] This species is threatened with extinction or has already disappeared due to predation by the introduced species Nile Perch as well as other recent ecological impacts. This species grows to about 20.0 centimetres (7.9 in) SL.
