Daulat Khan Lodhi

Daulat Khan Lodhi

Daulat Khan Lodhi was the governor of Lahore during the reign of Ibrahim Lodhi, the last ruler of the Lodhi dynasty. Due to disaffection with Ibrahim, Daulat invited Babur to invade the kingdom.

Background

Ibrahim Lodhi (1517-1526), Daulat Khan's sovereign, was a weak ruler. He was in a power struggle with his brother as well as the other nobles and ministers. Daulat Khan, along with Alam Khan (an uncle of Ibrahim), conspired against Ibrahim Lodhi and invited Babur to invade Delhi. Ibrahim Khan Lodhi lost his life in the battle of Panipat in 1526. These events paved the way for the Mughal Empire [ [http://www.khyber.org/pashtohistory/thelodhis.shtml The Lodhi Dynasty] ] .
