Western Australian Citizen of the Year Award

The Western Australia Citizen of the Year Award is annually awarded to eight individuals and one service organisation that has made an outstanding and enduring contribution to the advancement of the state and people of Western Australia through their chosen field of endeavour. The awards have been given every year since 1973. Worthy individuals and organisations may be nominated by fellow West Australians and cannot nominate themselves.

The nine categories that make up this annual award are: Arts,Culture and Entertainment, Community Service, The Gold Swan Award, The Governors Award for Regional Development, Industry and Commerce, The Professions, Sport, Youth Arts award and Youth.

Award recipients may choose to use the post-nominal CitWa after their name.

Past recipients include: Author Tim Winton, St John Ambulance, Sir Charles Court, burns specialist Dr. Fiona Wood, The Health Department of W.A, ericaamerica designer Lucas Bowers and sporting legend Wally Foreman.
