Flaxley Abbey

Flaxley Abbey

Flaxley Abbey, in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, was founded in 1148 by the Earl of Hereford as a Cistercian monastery.

It was dissolved during the Dissolution of the monasteries in 1536 - 7 and its lands and manor were granted to Sir William Kingston.

The abbey is now a private residence and has never been a hotel.
