United States House of Representatives elections, 1886

The U.S. House election, 1886 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1886 which occurred in the middle of President Grover Cleveland's first term.

As in many midterm elections, Cleveland's Democratic Party lost seats to the opposition Republican Party, although it retained a narrow majority. Many of these Republican pickups were in the Midwest and Great Plains states, where the debate over tariffs lead to political change. The small Labor Party, supported by industrial workers, gained several seats in Wisconsin.
