As of the 2001 UK census, the Bockhanger electoral ward had a population of 2,468. The ethnicity was 97.7% white, 1% mixed race, 0.8% Asian, 0.5% black and 0% other. The place of birth of residents was 95.6% United Kingdom, 0.5% Republic of Ireland, 1.2% other Western European countries, and 2.7% elsewhere.
