Skip Lockwood

Claude Edward (Skip) Lockwood Jr. (born August 17, 1946 in Norwood, Massachusetts) was a third baseman for the Kansas City Athletics (1965), and a pitcher for the Seattle Pilots/Milwaukee Brewers (1969-73), California Angels (1974), New York Mets (1975-79) and Boston Red Sox (1980).

In 12 seasons he had a 57-97 win-loss record, 420 games (106 started), 16 complete games, 5 shutouts, 219 games finished, 68 saves, 1,236 innings pitched, 1,130 hits allowed, 539 runs allowed, 488 earned runs allowed, 98 home runs allowed, 490 walks, 829 strikeouts, 33 hit batsmen, 43 wild pitches, 5,215 batters faced, 62 intentional walks, 5 balks, a 3.55 ERA and a 1.311 WHIP.

Lockwood was also an accomplished candlepin bowler.

He started out his career as a third baseman.

According to the Mets blog, "Amazin' Avenue", Lockwood is the forty-second best player in Mets history. Lockwood attended Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury, MA where he earned 14 varsity letters in four years. His school record time in the 100-yard dash in 1964 still stands.
