To date, there have been 2 seasons of Campus SuperStar. This article is on Season 1.

Any uniformed student in a Secondary School, Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Pre-University or Junior College may take part. Those who wish to take part must remain a student throughout the entire competition, that is from November 2005 to April 2006. Contestants are to be in their school uniforms. Students below 18 require parental consent.

The first Campus SuperStar audition was held at Bishan Junction 8, Top of the 8 Open Stage, at Level 3. Audition started as early as 10am, and last till 6pm or later for the subsequent 4 days starting 19 November. Students can be seen queuing up at Level 1, just outside Long John Silver, across the entrance to the multi-storey carpark. Some students printed the registration forms available on Channel U's website. Registration forms were also obtainable on spot. Contestants were to submit the registration form together with a 3R photo of themselves. Participating students would be given a number tag each.

Staff on duty would lead groups of students to Level 3 through the staircase. These students would wait by the side benches which are blocked by metal barriers from the audience. These students would go up stage in ascending order of their number tag.

There were 2 'sunflowers' by the left of the stage. The colours of the centre of each sunflower were different. One was red, while the other was green. Judges would 'say' whether the student was eliminated or eligible for the 2nd round through the sunflowers. If the red light was on, it means the student was eliminated from the audition. It would be accompanied by an annoying "DEH" sound. If the green light was on, it means the student would enter the 2nd round, which would be held at Mediacorp. This would be accompanied by a "GLING GLING GLING" sound.

Each student would provided with a wireless microphone, and there was a designated spot where students are supposed to stand on, marked by an "X". Their audition would be recorded down on tape by the cameraman by the side of the judging panel. Students would introduce themselves, say the school they are from, and the name of the part of the song they would be singing, without music.

Judges would signal for the student to stop singing with a bell. After which, few things could happen. They could ask the contestant to take off their spectacles so as to have a clearer look at their real face, or they could simply request for another song (but this does not guarantee their entrance to the 2nd round). Judges would give comments to few students, while most students would receive no comment, but a "DEH".

Some contestants leave the stage immediately while others would thank the audience for their attention.

There were intervals in between for the judges to take a break, and meanwhile, some Project SuperStars would perform to stir up the crowd.

2nd Audition

Successful contestants went through a 2nd round of audition, held indoors, at Mediacorp. Contestants were also required to sing without music. They would stand alone in front of the panel of 5 judges, and perform their piece. Similar to the 1st audition, the 2 sunflowers were placed beside where the contestant was supposed to stand. Judges were able to carefully select students for the 3rd audition, as this was held indoors, without interference from the audience.

3rd Audition

The 3rd round of audition was held at Bishan Junction 8 (Top of the 8, Level 3) on 13 Dec 2005. There were a lot of supporters, many of them near the front of the stage, holding onto banners and cards bearing photographs of the contestants.

The less-than-hundred eventual finalists of out of 4000 contestants, would walk up stage individually, introduce themselves, and sing, however this time with music.

After all the auditions finished, judges went into the control room by the right side of the stage to decide on the shortlisted contestants, who would enter the first Quarter Final.

In contrast to ] saying that 12 Male 12 Female would enter the Quarter Final, only 10 Male 10 Female were selected.
