Taj International Airport

Taj International Airport

The Taj International Airport is a future airport to be built in Delhi, India. Apart from the already existing Indira Gandhi International Airport, the government of India has decided to permit the construction of a second airport in India's capital city. The purpose of this new airport is to accommodate future air traffic, which is booming in the country. Analysts say, in a few years, the air traffic in Delhi will double. Although Indira Gandhi International is currently going through a major series of upgrades, with the construction of a new state of the art terminal able to withstand domestic and international departures along with other new terminals to be completed; this is not enough.

Taj International shall be situated in Greater-Noida, near the Delhi-Agra highway, This location is prime due to two reasons: It is near India's most popular tourist spot and now one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal (from where the airport also gets its name); and fast connectivity can be obtained to the nation's capital with a connection time of 45mins. from Greater-Noida.

Currently, the government is holding bids for companies desiring to manage the construction of this airport. GMR Fraport DIAL, the company responsible for the reconstruction of Indira Gandhi International Airportis one of many bidders, and are sure they can successfully create this airport with the same excellent precision they demonstrate while constructing Indira Gandhi International.

Taj International Airport is one of many airports who are going to be second airport to relieve bustling air traffic in Indian overcrowded cities. Mumbai is also planning a second airport and Chennai's are also following the trend by jumping on to the bandwagon.

The Date of completion for Taj International is still unsure, and more details of this brand new airport shall be revealed in the near future.
