"All for You" is the seventh studio album (tenth overall) released by American R&B/pop singer Janet Jackson on April 24, 2001 (see 2001 in music) on Virgin Records. Unlike "The Velvet Rope", which featured Jackson tackling darker issues like domestic violence and depression, "All for You" showcased a fluffier pop sound with her lyrics talking mostly about her then recent divorce. This also marks Jackson's first album to be released with a Parental Advisory label on it; the second being follow-up "Damita Jo".

Album information

"All for You" debuted at number one on the "Billboard" 200, with 605,000 copies sold. It eventually went double platinum by the RIAA in May 2001. The album went number one again during the fourth week that "All for You" was #1 on the "Billboard" Hot 100.

"All for You" marked the first time that Miss Jackson worked with a co-producer on an album, Rockwilder, who co-produced the Japan radio hit "Come On Get Up" and the infamous "Would You Mind", in which Jackson straps a fan to a gurney on her All for You Tour. Jackson expressed to Carson Daly on MTV's "Total Request Live" that she wanted to release the song "Trust a Try" (also produced by Rockwilder) as the second single from the album, but was denied.

The album's title track became Jackson's biggest hit in years, hitting number one on the "Billboard" Hot 100 and remaining there for seven weeks. The album's second single, "Someone to Call My Lover", was also a success, peaking at number three. The third single, "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" (which featured Carly Simon and repurposed her 1972 song "You're So Vain") did not meet the same success as the album's previous singles; it nonetheless peaked at number twenty-eight. The album also included, in an alternate mix, her previously released single "Doesn't Really Matter" (from the "" soundtrack) that had been a number-one hit the previous year.

The album was released without a Parental Advisory sticker on its first pressings, despite featuring strong language and sexual content. Later, the album was re-released in "explicit" and "clean" versions (both added the P. Diddy remix of "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" as a bonus track, while the edited disc also removed the steamy "Would You Mind"). A limited edition of "All for You" was released in November 2001. The track listing was the same as the clean version's one, but it added yet another "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" remix as a bonus track. The limited edition also contained a bonus DVD with music videos from "janet.", "The Velvet Rope", and ending with "All for You"'s "Someone to Call My Lover". However, due to the track "Would You Mind", the album was banned in Singapore, as Jackson's management refused to remove the track from the album. Commercially, the album performed exceptionally well in the United States. It debuted at number one with 605,000 copies in its first week, while by week twenty, it had sold two million copies. To date, it has sold over three million copies. Worldwide, "All for You" has sold an estimated eight million copies. The album reached number two in the United Kingdom, just behind Ash's "Free All Angels". "All for You" went to number one in nine different countries.
