Postal Orders of India

Postal orders have been issued in India at various times since 1883. The first issues were issued between 1883 and 1886 before they were temporarily discontinued. It is not yet known when India started to issue postal orders on a permanent basis, but it was prior to independence in 1947 that these issues began.
