Antoine

Ari

Ari is a ram Freedom Fighter and leader of a team that was captured by Robotnik. Desperate to free them, he made a deal with Robotnik, promising to lead Sonic into one of his traps in exchange for the freedom of his team. True to form, Dr. Robotnik had already roboticized Ari's teammates. Determined to make amends, Ari helped save Sonic, but ended up being drawn into the Void. While there, he became an ally of King Acorn, and was later rescued from the Void after Ixis Naugus' failed escape attempt. Ari later joined the other Freedom Fighters in attacking Robotnik's Doomsday Project.

Bunnie Rabbot

Buzzbombers

Cat

One of the Knothole Freedom Fighters, Cat only appeared in the episode "Sonic Boom", joining Sonic, Sally, and Antoine on a mission. When it blew up in their faces, Cat lured away a pursuing securitybot, giving the others time to escape. Sonic later returned to rescue him, but Cat warned him of danger to Sally, and Sonic was forced to leave. Upon returning, Sonic found Cat's cell empty, his fate unknown; he was presumably Roboticized.

Uncle Chuck

Sir Charles "Chuck" Hedgehog (Voiced By William Windom) is a character first introduced in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and is Sonic the Hedgehog's uncle. A respected scientist who earned a knighthood for serving the Acorn Kingdom, Chuck is unwittingly responsible for the rise of Dr. Robotnik. In both the TV show and the comic, Uncle Chuck's capture by Dr. Robotnik is the catalyst that turns Sonic into an orphan and eventual hero.

The creator of the roboticizer, a process that turns flesh into metal, Charles hoped to use this technology as a means of curing the sick and allowing people to live longer (Charles' likely motive was to heal his brother Jules, who had been wounded during the war). When Warlord Julian Kintobor sabotaged his machine, Charles discovered to his horror that Jules had been transformed completely into a machine. The project was stolen by Kintobor, who used it to rob others of their free will. This device paved the way for him to enslave Charles' people and seize control of Mobotropolis, emerging as the ruthless dictator Robotnik. Chuck was among the first to be robotized, an event that drove his nephew Sonic to become a Freedom Fighter. Sonic tried to break Chuck out of Robotropolis (as seen in the 1st issue and later in flashbacks), ["Sonic the Hedgehog #0"] but was not able to.

Sonic continued to regret failing to save Uncle Chuck. When he and the rest of the Freedom Fighters were deposited into a holographic fantasy world by Robotnik (to trap them forever), Sonic envisioned a world free of Robotnik, where Uncle Chuck was still his old self and they both lived happily. ["Sonic the Hedgehog #16"] Ironically, Chuck's mind was freed by none other than Robotnik himself, when the Doctor tested an anti-matter device that malfunctioned and restored Chuck's free will. Chuck remained undercover, working as a spy for the Freedom Fighters while pretending to still be a mindless slave, up until Robotnik's defeat.

After the war, Chuck became a member of the main group of Freedom Fighters. He serves as a technical expert, befriending Rotor and his assistant Tommy Turtle. Chuck has had few major roles to play recently, other than helping Sonic defeat a swarm of nanites and working towards a cure for the roboticized Jules. He re-opened his chili dog stand in the city of New Mobotropolis, and was elected to the Council of Acorn.

Uncle Chuck also appeared in one episode of "Sonic Underground", in which he was apparently Sonic's uncle through his foster parents. As in "Sonic the Hedgehog ", Uncle Chuck was a high-ranking member of the Freedom Fighters stationed in Robotropolis, and was Roboticized shortly after Sonic found his siblings Sonia and Manic the Hedgehogs. Presumably, he would have been De-Roboticized after the series ended, but "Sonic Underground" was cancelled before this could occur.

Cluck

Cluck is Robotnik's pet robot chicken who appeared in every episode in the first season. Robotnick would oftentalk to him as if he was his friend.Cluck would sometimes try to make things harder for Sonic. At the beginning of the Sonic Sat AM theme song, it would show Robotnick petting the robotic-pet chicken. He was absent from the second season. The cause of his disappearance is unknown.

Dinobot/T-Bot

Featured in "Sonic the Hedgehog", the Dinobot is a massive, dinosaur-like tractor robot used in Robotnik's power-crystal mining operations in the Mobius Crystal Mine. Uncle Chuck, Sonic, and Bunnie Rabbot commandeered it to stop Robotnik from gaining control of a massive energy crystal.

Dirk

Leader of the Eastern Freedom Fighters, Dirk is a Mobian Grizzly Bear.

Dulcy

Griff

Leader of a group of Freedom Fighters living in a hidden city called Lower Mobius, which is located below Robotropolis, Griff is a goat who helped Sonic, Sally, and Antoine escape a SWATbot patrol. Desperate to keep his city running, he became quite excited when he learned about the Power Rings. Charming Sally, he managed to sneak into Knothole and steal the Power Rock, intending to use it as a power source for Lower Mobius. Sonic was forced to help save him from an invasion of ratbots, and Griff was given a portion of the Power Rock to keep the city operational.

Guardian

Featured in the Sonic the Hedgehog episode "Super Sonic", the Guardian was a black-cloaked figure with the ability to shoot laser beams and project holographic images from his eyes. The Guardian also seems to have the power to sense the amount of good or evil in someone's heart, as demonstrated by his evaluation of Dr. Robotnik. His name comes from the fact that he was posted as protector of the sleeping wizard Lazaar, patrolling his lair and the surrounding environs of the Forbidden Zone.

The only interloper the Guardian didn't show any aggression towards was Sally Acorn; vaporizing a SWATbot pursuing her while almost completely ignoring Sally, probably because the Guardian considered the SWATbot to be the more immediate threat. He is extremely committed to his duties, even turning down bribery attempts by Robotnik when he tries to persuade the Guardian to reveal the location of his master's lair. He is last seen entering Lazaar's lair with his master just before the structure disappears at the end of the episode, apparently still loyal to him even though Lazaar is no longer evil.

Keeper of the Time Stones

An ancient owl with a massive head clad in a purple cape, the Keeper is responsible for guarding the Floating Island, and specifically the Time Stones, in Sonic the Hedgehog. This makes him a counterpart to Knuckles the Echidna, who did not appear in the series. Rather like the legendary sphinx, he requires those who seek the Time Stones to answer a riddle. Once Sally and Sonic answer it, he disappears, leaving them the Time Stones and instructing the two in their use. The Keeper's voice was done by Tim Curry, who also did the voice of King Acorn.

King Acorn

Lazaar

Appearing in the Sonic the Hedgehog episode "Super Sonic", Lazaar was an ancient and evil wizard who kept an extensive inventory of spells, curses, and other magic paraphernalia catalogued within a crystal-like computer. For unknown reasons, Lazaar went into suspended animation and slept for centuries in his boobytrap-riddled lair (later described as 'one ugly condo' by Sonic) within what was known as the Forbidden Zone, itself becoming part of Robotropolis when Robotnik came to power. Lazaar's lair and the Forbidden Zone were patrolled by the Guardian, a mysterious and foreboding being whose sole purpose was to eliminate any potential threats to his master while he was asleep. Lazaar was eventually discovered during a Freedom Fighter raid on Robotropolis, Sonic and Robotnik both vying for control of Lazaar's computer; Robotnik managed to get to it first, stealing it and reviving Lazaar in the process, who proceeded to capture Sonic when he arrived later on. It was then revealed that during his centuries-long slumber, Lazaar came to regret the evil he had committed in the past. Sonic then persuaded the wizard to release him so he could get his computer back from Robotnik, though he had to give up his speed as collateral, using his cunning to outwit Robotnik, whom by this time had teleported Sally Acorn and Bunnie Rabbot and brainwashed them to do his bidding. Sonic managed to retrieve the computer and reverse the brainwashing on his friends. Once back at Lazaar's lair, Lazaar returned Sonic's speed to him, but declined the offer to join the Freedom Fighters, opting instead to protect his computer from future threats. When asked why he couldn't just rid himself of the computer, he said that destroying it would unleash all of the evil contained within it, bringing about a great catastrophe.

Lazaar was voiced by Frank Welker and had a speech pattern similar to that of Yoda from the "Star Wars" films. He is also one of only two wizards mentioned in SatAM, the other being Ixis Naugus.

Muttski

Muttski is Sonic's loyal pet dog, who like Uncle Chuck was roboticized prior to Sonic joining the Freedom Fighters. Muttski is almost exclusive to the Archie comics, only making a brief cameo appearance in the Sonic the Hedgehog pilot episode "Heads or Tails" wherein Sonic encounters him during a mission to Robotropolis, managing to spend a fleeting moment with him during a short lapse in the mind control inflicted on all roboticized beings. Once Muttski was back under Robotnik's control, Sonic vowed not to rest until he found a way to return him and all the other roboticized citizens to normal again.

In the comics, Muttski was one of Sonic's more feared antagonists, because Sonic did not wish to harm his faithful pet. Eventually, Muttski was freed from Robotnik's control, and took up residence in Knothole, once again becoming Sonic's close companion. Like all of the roboticized Mobians except Jules Hedgehog and the partially roboticized Bunnie Rabbot, Muttski was deroboticized by the Bem. An interesting development: during Sonic's time spent in space (six weeks to him, a year to everyone else) he received an implant that allowed him to understand and speak to aliens. Back home, the implant now allows him to speak with Muttski and understand what he's saying. Muttski's abilities are those of the average dog, though his speed and strength were enhanced by his robotization. Muttski's closest friend besides Sonic is the hedgehog's adoptive "brother" Tails. This is proven true when the two spend a day together.

Naugus

NICOLE

Palo

Leader of the Southern Freedom Fighters, Palo is a Mobian rhinoceros. When Robotnick promised his grouppower and fortune,he betrayed them, and robotisized them and banished them to the of silence. If Palo was sent to the zone and robotisized, is unknown.

Robotnik

Rosie

The woodchuck childhood nanny of the Freedom Fighters, Rosie appeared only in the two part episode "Blast to the Past". According to the history of the original, unaltered timeline, she took Sonic and the other children to Knothole during Robotnik's coup, but was captured by robots out in the Great Forest and Roboticized. Sonic and Sally encountered her when they traveled back in time to alter history, and Sally warned her never to leave Knothole. As a result, her status was one of the only things that was altered between the original present and the altered one, though Sonic and Sally were left with no memories of the altered past.

Rosie also appears as a minor character in the Archie comics, where she was more Sally's personal nanny than one to all the Freedom Fighters. While her role in the comics is minor, usually only involving her bearing news to Sally, she does later take three orphans into her care as she did the Freedom Fighters when they were younger. On one occasion, she told them a story depicting the Freedom Fighters as heroes in a fantasy adventure, with such characters as Robotnik, Snively, Ixis Naugus, Mammoth Mogul, and Rouge the Bat as villains. In the story, the heroic characters go to save the Elf Fox (played by Tails) and recover his lost tail, with Sonic and Sally's characters falling in love at the end of the story. Much to Rosie's amusement, her three young charges debate how realistic the story is.

Rotor

abina

Mother of Dulcy the Dragon, Sabina appears in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" cartoon and Archie Comics. In the cartoon, she has tan scales and a spiky brown ridge on her head. In the comics, she looks like an older version of Dulcy.

Sabina only appears twice in the cartoon; during the two-part "Blast to the Past" episode and in "Dulcy", the latter being the only time she's shown speaking. In "Blast to the Past", Sonic saves her from being captured by Robotnik's forces, a favor she later repays by helping to bring down Robotnik's Destroyer airship. In the episode "Dulcy", she appears to Dulcy in a dream when Dulcy reaches adolescence, telling her to fly to the dragon breeding grounds at Dragon's Nest. Her fate in the series was never revealed, though she was presumably Roboticized.

The Archie Comics show Sabina to have been captured and Roboticized along with many others of her kind. They were the only beings on Mobius who weren't De-Roboticized by the Bem due to their magical properties. Sabina and the other Roboticized dragons were eventually destroyed in an ill-fated attempt to invade the dragons' underground sanctuary and roboticize its' inhabitants, whom are able to repel the incursion and melt the roboticized dragons with a massed volley of flame breath. At first Dulcy believes that this has caused the death of her mother and the other roboticized dragons, but one of the elder dragons reveals that a dragon's spirit is eternal, and that Sabina and all the others would be reincarnated in future generations.

Princess Sally

hredder/Shredbot

Another robot from "Sonic the Hedgehog", the Shredder is a giant machine with several long, spindly legs earning it the nickname "Bird Legs" among the Freedom Fighters. It came equipped with giant buzzsaws, enormous tentacles, and a laser capable of absorbing life force energy from a living thing and converting it into power. Sonic defeated it in his first encounter by tricking it into entangling its legs in its own tentacles. Repaired, it was sent against the Great Forest again, only to be destroyed by another of Robotnik's creations.

The Shredbot-a robot identical to the Shredder in design-appeared in an early issue of the Archie comics. It cornered Sally and Bunnie Rabbot, and was only thwarted when Tails-who had recently gained a major boost in intellect due to eating a magical fruit-tricked it into smashing its own buzzsaws together, destroying them.

WATbots

The SWATbots are humanoid robot shock troopers from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" cartoon (voiced by Jim Cummings and Randy Rudy) and Archie Comics "Sonic the Hedgehog" continuities. Designed by War Minister Julian (who would later become the evil Dr. Robotnik) for use during the Great War, early SWATbot units were initially under the control of the Kingdom of Acorn, but were reprogrammed when Julian rechristened himself Dr. Robotnik and took near total control of Mobius in the year 3224. Years later, Robotnik programmed all SWATbot units with the code "Priority One", which ordered them to specifically pursue the Mobian rebel Sonic on sight, who became the dictator's arch-nemesis. Several varieties of SWATbots exist in "Sonic the Hedgehog", including red-armored models that employ air bikes for higher mobility. There are also large, bulbous models resembling the hovercraft used by Dr. Robotnik and his few minions, which were sometimes referred to as 'securitybots' and were able to fold up their limbs and use built-in wheels to travel like a car. The standard SWATbots were at first armed with blaster rifles with stun or kill settings which were slung on their backs when not in use, and later wrist-mounted laser weapons, as in the above image.

SWATbots appeared in the "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" episode "Sonic Christmas Blast" though thier appearance was different.

A bulkier, more formidable SWATbot breed exists in the TV series "Sonic Underground". They come in several variations, use multiple vehicles, and all have orders to capture Sonic and his siblings. However, these SWATbots are incredibly inefficient, being vulnerable to water and having an easily accessed control panel on their arm. Maurice LaMarche and Blu Mankuma provided the voices of the SWATbots.

SWATbots also appear in the RPG game "". Thus, they are unique in being the only characters originaly invented for an American "Sonic" TV series to become part of the official "Sonic" video game universe.

Tails

Terapods

The terapod is a dinosaur-like species appearing in only one Sonic the Hedgehog episode, "Sonic Past Cool". They possess large intellegence for a primarily non-anthropomorphic species, and Sally was able to develop a program on NICOLE to interpret their distinct language patterns into English.

Baby T

A young terapod befriended by Tails after he unhappily wandered off when the other Freedom Fighters were too busy to play dirt hockey with him. The friendship between them was great, but finally the terapod had to go home, a sad experience for both him and Tails.

Momma T

The mother of Baby T.Who was captured by Robotnik, but was freed by the Freedom Fighters.
