This list of tallest buildings in Oakland ranks
high-rise s in the city of Oakland,California by height. In terms of highrises, Oakland has the most buildings in the Bay Area outside of San Francisco with 66 completed highrises. Most of the greater Bay Area's highrises (excluding San Francisco) over 300 feet (91 m) are located in Oakland also. Despite being the largest city inNorthern California , San Jose has only 41 completed highrise buildings compared to 66 in Oakland, a city with less than half the population of San Jose. The same fact holds true in terms of height; San Jose has no buildings taller than 285 feet (87 m) due to the location ofSan Jose International Airport . Two suburban highrise building enclaves in the Bay Area, Foster City and Emeryville, both have one 300+ foot (91+ m) building within their city limits. As San Francisco is flooded with many highrise proposals, Oakland too has seen some tall proposals. One notable project is developer
Peter Wang 's proposed 1938 Broadway highrise. If built, 1938 Broadway would become the first building in Oakland to pass the 500 foot (152 meter) threshold, sometimes given as a criterion for a skyscraper. Farther south in San Jose, the proposed 338 foot (103 m) One South Market could be San Jose's first building taller than 300 feet (91 m).Tallest buildings
This lists ranks Oakland buildings that stand at least 200 feet (61 m) tall, based on standard height measurement. This includes spires and architectural details but does not include antenna masts.
