Origin

The drink was the brain child of Steve Roeder who came up with the bubble gum soda drink concept using snow cone flavoring to test with. Roeder and his long time friend Larry Wilson contacted The Wrigley Company to acquire license rights to use the name of Hubba Bubba Bubble Gum Soda. They then contacted Alan Canfield of the AJ Canfield Company, who agreed to produce and can the product for Roeder and Wilson who operated under the company name of Novelty Beverage. Wilson handled much of the marketing and distribution set up and Roeder focused his time on license agreements, product development and promotion. The pair also made a deal for a test market at selected Toys R Us locations.
