Paul Chester Hoover (born April 14, 1976 in Columbus, Ohio) is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Florida Marlins.

Hoover was drafted in the by|1997 by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 23rd round of the amateur draft.

On September 29, mlby|2007, Hoover broke up a potential no-hitter in the eighth inning with an infield single to spoil a bid by John Maine of the New York Mets. The Mets are one of the few teams in baseball to not have a no-hitter in their history.
