2,alpha-DMT, or 2,a-dimethyltryptamine, is a lesser-known psychedelic drug. It is the 2,a-dimethyl analog of DMT. 2,a-DMT was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin. In his book "TiHKAL" ("Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved"), Shulgin lists the dosage as 300-500 mg, and the duration as 7-10 hours. [CiteTiHKAL|pages=422] 2,a-DMT causes mydriasis and tingling. It also produces a calm, drunk-like feeling. Very little data exists about the pharmacological properties, metabolism, and toxicity of 2,a-DMT.
