Westville is a town in
KwaZulu-Natal ,South Africa that is situated inland betweenDurban andPinetown . It now forms part of theeThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, which also includes Durban. The town was laid out on the farm Westville (named in honour ofMartin West , the British lieutenant-governor of Natal) which was formed in1847 .Westville is a fast growing decentralised hub of Durban. Westville is well known as an academic town and has well regarded schools such as
Westville Boys' High School andWestville Girls' High School . A 2 square kilometre campus ofUniversity of KwaZulu-Natal (former University of Durban-Westville) is situated in Westville.Westville is an established upmarket suburb, with the fourth most expensive average property prices in the province after Umhlanga,
Durban North and the Berea.There are several churches in Westville, including the Westville Catholic Church, "Our Lady of Lourdes", situated in the town centre, the Westville Baptist Church and
St Elizabeth's Anglican Church .Westville is home to the shopping complex The Pavilion. The Pavilion is one of the largest shopping centres in South Africa.
