Carol Jiani

Carol Jiani

Carol Jiani is a Nigerian born, Canadaian singer who debuted after the peak of Disco in the American mainstream. Jiani's exact birthdate remains unknown to the general public. Jiani was probably born between 1958 and 1960.

Career

She moved to Montreal, Canada to commence her caeer as a professional performer and recording artist. Jiani's debut album featured the hit title track, "Hit N Run Lover." The title track became a major hit on the Club Play Singles chart peaking at #4. She also scored another huge American hit with "Get Up and Do It Again" (#4 Club/Dance and #64 R&B) in 1982. Jiani sang the vocals for the song, but she was unable to take credit for the recording, as she had a contractual conflict. In 1982, another version of "Get on Up and Do it Again" was recorded by former "Mizz" lead singer Michele Mills and included in an album by the same name released on the RFC/Atlantic label. Mills performed songs from the album under the name SUZY Q for a number of years. Jiani recorded and released a few more albums which produced several other hit singles such as "Dancing In The Rain" from 1984. However, the longevity of her song hits were somewhat usurped by the ongoing success of her debut hit, "Hit N Run Lover." She recorded new singles through 1996 including "No Matter What" and "Kiss You All Over." Then, she went below the radar for nearly a decade. She resurfaced in the mid 2000s. Jiani issued the single, "Stop The Music" in June 2007 and submitted the track "Work My Fingers to the Bone" for the album "Northern Soul 2007". Carol is also about to release the Donna Summer-esque "I Don't Wanna Talk About Love" which was written and produced by Australian singer Peter Wilson, who's own album "Follow Me" was issued in the UK on Klone Records. The song will also debut on Klone on "Mad About The Boy 16", shortly followed by her brand new album "This Is Me", which is said to take Carol back to her classic Hi NRG roots.
