News 12 Long Island is a regional 24-hour cable news television channel reaching more than 800,000 television homes on Long Island, New York. The channel is the flagship of the News 12 Networks, which is touted by owner Cablevision as the "first, largest and most watched regional news network" in the nation. News 12 Long Island was the "first local 24-hour news channel in the United States."[1] The channel launched December 15, 1986.[2]

News 12 Long Island can be seen on cable systems in Nassau and Suffolk counties. In 2010, the estimated population of this news coverage area was 3,100,000.[3] The station's main studio, newsroom and sales offices are located in Woodbury, New York on Long Island.

New Studio, Graphics and HD

On April 9th, 2011, News 12 Long Island debuted its new studio layout, with a new set, a new logo, infobar, graphics (including new news intro), and music (Convergence by Stephen Arnold music). News 12 Long Island is the second of the News 12 Networks (behind News 12 New Jersey) to switch to high definition.
