Craven Council election, 2000

The 2000 Craven Council election took place on 4 May 2000 to elect members of Craven District Council in North Yorkshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council.^[1]

The Conservatives retained their position in the election, while the number of independents increased by one at the expense of the Liberal Democrats.^[2] The Labour party did not put up any candidates for the election.^[2] Turnout ranged from a high of 54.3% in Bolton Abbey ward to a low of 20.3% in Skipton East ward.^[2]

After the election, the composition of the council was

• Conservative 18
• Independent 12
• Liberal Democrat 4^[3]
