screenwriter . His films include "James and the Giant Peach", "Chicken Run", "Curious George", "Charlotte's Web" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" adaptation. He directed the upcoming "Nowhereland " starringEddie Murphy as well as "Over the Hedge" with Tim Johnson.Kirkpatrick attended the

SAK Comedy Lab improvisational theater inOrlando, Florida . He is an alumnus ofBaton Rouge Magnet High School inBaton Rouge, Louisiana . While in high school, he performed in many music theatre productions, including "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum " with music and lyrics byStephen Sondheim , in which he played the lead role ofPseudolus . He also formed an early contemporary Christian band, Crossroads, with fellow students Byron Simpson, Leslie Hammatt, Libby Williams and Todd Hinkie. Crossroads covered early songs fromAmy Grant andMichael W. Smith as well as tunes written by Karey's older brother, Wayne Kirkpatrick, who went on to cowrite and produce extensively with Grant and Smith.Karey Kirkpatrick and Byron Simpson got their first big break writing screenplays for an upstart movie production company,
