Chembakur

Chembakur is a village near Madanapalle, Chittoor district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is known for its agriculture and has produced many engineers, scientists, doctors who have made significant contributions to the country's economy and growth.

Geography

Chembakur is located at 13°25′55″N 78°24′29″E / 13.432°N 78.408°E / 13.432; 78.408Coordinates: 13°25′55″N 78°24′29″E / 13.432°N 78.408°E / 13.432; 78.408. It has an average elevation of 200 metres (656 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Chembakur had a population of 10,849. Males constituted 58% of the population and females 42%. The average literacy rate was 58%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 50%. 11% of the population was under 6 years of age.

Business and Commerce

Chembakur produces tamarind, groundnuts, jaggery(bellamu) made from sugarcane,tomato, mango, bhel (borugulu), flowers and other agricultural products. The Agricultural Produce Market attracts farmers from nearby taluk and villages to trade their agricultural produce.

History
