Brian P. Cleary

Brian P. Cleary, (born October 1 1959 in Lakewood, Ohio) is an American humorist, poet, and author of more than 25 books.

Influenced by such writers as Ogden Nash, e. e. cummings, Lennon & McCartney, Cleary began to explore and celebrate the wonder of words as a child. He is now found back in the classroom, as he's shared his love of language with 85,000 students in 40 states. He has written cartoon gags which have appeared in more than 600 newspapers worldwide, and written humor essays for national and local magazines and newspapers, and has had an award-winning children's book read on Minnesota Public Radio. Since graduating from John Carroll University with a degree in communications in 1982, he has worked in one of the 5 largest creative divisions in the world, American Greetings, where he currently holds the title of Senior Editor on the Humor Staff. He has sold more than 2 million books.

Cleary's books have been reviewed in journals such as "Kirkus", "Publishers Weekly", "The Horn Book Guide", "School Library Journal", and "Booklist".

According to Kirkus Reviews, "Cleary has clearly got the formula down for effectively explaining a potentially boring subject through a bouncy rhyming text filled with puns and jokes that will appeal to kids."
