Burt Shavitz

Burt Shavitz

Burt Shavitz (b. c. 1935) is a beekeeper and photographer from Maine. In 1984 he founded Burt's Bees with graphic artist Roxanne Quimby. She used his beeswax to make personal care products. She also created the famous image of Burt that still graces many of the company's products.

Ms. Quimby bought out Burt's share of the company in 1993 and subsequently sold the company in 2004.
