John Paul Phelan

John Paul Phelan (born 27 September 1978) is an Irish politician and member of the 23rd Seanad Éireann for Fine Gael. He was first elected in 2002 to the 22nd Seanad by the Agricultural Panel, and was re-elected in 2007. ] He was the youngest member of the 22nd Seanad.

A graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology, Phelan was elected to Kilkenny County Council in 1999 for the Piltown Electoral Area, the youngest Councillor ever elected to that council. [cite news

At the 2007 general election he was a candidate in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency. In a tightly-fought contest for the last seat he was beaten by Mary White of the Green Party. [cite web
