2007 Mosconi Cup

The 2007 Mosconi Cup (the 14th annual Europe versus United States Mosconi Cup tournament) took place between December 13 – December 16, at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. Team Europe won the Cup for the first time since 2002 against arguably the best American team to ever take part in the event.

Result

Europe won the Cup for only the third time, and the first time in five years, by 11 matches to 8. After the first day's play, Team USA led 4-1 before the European fightback. Ralf Souquet potted the winning 9-ball, beating Rodney Morris 6-4 (after being 4-2 down).

Afterwards, Tony Drago was awarded the "Most Valuable Player" award in his debut year in the Mosconi Cup. Despite being identified by Earl Strickland as "the weakest player" on the European team, Drago won all four of his singles matches, including victory over Johnny Archer on the final day.
