Edward Colston (U.S. Representative)

Edward Colston (December 25, 1786 - April 23, 1852) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia.

Born near Winchester, Virginia, Colston studied under private teachers, and was graduated from Princeton College in 1806.He studied law.He was admitted to the bar and practiced.He served in the War of 1812.He served as member of the State house of delegates 1812-1814 from 1816 to 1817 from 1823 to 1828, and 1833-1835. High sheriff of Berkeley County 1844 and 1845.

Colston was elected as a Federalist to the Fifteenth Congress (March 4, 1817-March 3, 1819).He died at "Honeywood," Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia), April 23, 1852.He was interred in the family burying ground on his estate, "Honeywood," near Hedgesville, Berkeley County, W.Virginia.
