Susan Deacon (born
2 February 1964 ,Musselburgh ) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and was a MSP for Edinburgh East and Musselburgh from 1999 to 2007. She attended theUniversity of Edinburgh for her degree in Social Policy and Politics, as well as for herMBA . She was minister for Health and Community Care until 2001 when she was offered an alternative portfolio by incomingJack McConnell , but instead resigned her post.She is a patron of
LGBT Youth Scotland an organisation dedicated to the inclusion ofLGBT young people in the life of Scotland. She has been quoted as accusing theRoman Catholic church of launching a "torrent of intolerance" for opposing Labour party social legislation.
