Kaku Yamanaka

(December 11, 1894 – April 5, 2008) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was, aged 113 years and 116 days at the time of her death, the sixth-oldest living person in the world [http://www.grg.org/Adams/E.HTM Validated Living Supercentenarians] ] and the oldest living person in her country since the February 22, 2008 death of fellow 113-year-old Tsuneyo Toyonaga. According to the officials at the nursing home she resided at, Yamanaka loved singing and dancing. Following her death, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry of Japan claimed that an anonymous 112-year-old woman from Okinawa Prefecture was the nation's new oldest person.
