The Eternal Derby

The Eternal Derby or The Derby of Sofia is the derby between the two most successful clubs in Bulgaria - Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia. This rivalry is starting in the late 40's when the newly created team of CSKA becomes a champion in his first year. The titles number for the team is bigger for CSKA - they have 31 titles and 25 for Levski, but in the direct matches Levski is leading with 72 wins over 52 for CSKA from 167 played matches.

The rivalries between the clubs is everywhere. They have confrontations in every sport aspects even in the club's policy. After the most matches between "The People's Club" and "The Army Men" have a fight between the fans, because hooliganism is very popular in the fan's groups. The match is played first on the national Vasil Levski Stadium, but after 1989 it is played on the club's stadiums. In recent years the derby was given back on the national stadium.
