The Calderwood Dam is a hydroelectric development located between Graham and Swain counties, North Carolina and Blount and Monroe counties, Tennessee on the Little Tennessee River between river miles 43 and 44. The dam along with a powerhouse and tunnel/pipeline combo form The Calderwood Development. The development was completed in 1930. Calderwood Dam forms Calderwood Reservoir which covers approximately 570 acres (normal full pool area) with a drainage area of convert|1856|mi2|km2. The elevation of Calderwood Reservoir is 1087.8 feet (USGS). About half of Calderwood Reservoir lies in Tennessee, with the remainder extending into North Carolina.
Calderwood, like Cheoah and Chilhowee, is controlled by TVA's Fontana Dam. Fontana Dam is the primary flow control facility for the lower Little Tennessee River. Tapoco built and operates the Calderwood Development.
