"Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" is a 2008 British comedy film co-written and directed by Gurinder Chadha. The film is based on the popular teenage novels "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging" and "It's OK, I'm wearing really big knickers" by Louise Rennison.

The film was released on July 25, 2008 in the UK and on September 18, 2008 in Australia and is currently awaiting a release date in North America. It is rated 12A (UK) for moderate language and sexual references, PG (AUS) for adolescent themes and infrequent coarse language and PG-13 (USA) for suggestive content involving young teens and language. It is Nickelodeon Movies' first PG-13-rated film.

Plot

The movie is a coming of age story, following 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson, played by Georgia Groome, as she tries to get a boyfriend and throw the greatest 15th birthday party ever, while trying to keep her parents, played by British comedians Alan Davies and Karen Taylor, happy. The film is set in Eastbourne, a coastal town in England.

The movie is inspired by the John Hughes movies of the 1980s, most notably "Sixteen Candles", as well as the personal experience of both Rennison and Chadha. "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" was primarily filmed in Brighton and Eastbourne, UK, with interior work filmed at Ealing Studios, London due to the studio's rich heritage of British comedy.fact|date=September 2008

Differences from the book

Plot

*In the book, Georgia does not claim to Robbie that Angus is missing to talk to him.
*Georgia's birthday is not mentioned in the book either, and it is therefore unknown if Lindsay and her share the same birthday. The big rivalry between the two parties is a plot device in the film.
*In the film, Georgia goes to her father's office because she misses him when he is away in New Zealand. This does not happen in the book.
* The word 'Minger' is used 7 times in the movie.

Characters

*It is stated in the film that Robbie and Tom are twins, although in the books it says that Robbie is older than Tom.
*The character of Jas is best known in the books for having a fringe, but in the film she does not.
*In "It's OK, I'm wearing really big knickers", Jas is said to wear very large underwear, but in the film she is shown to wear a thong.
*Jas is never a friend of Lindsay, but in the film she is.
*Rosie is stated in the book to wear glasses, have slightly ginger hair and be the least sane of the group. However, in the film, she has blonde hair and does not wear glasses.
*There are no mentions of other members of the Ace Gang in the film, including Jools and Mabs.
*The character of "Wet Lindsay" was changed to "Slaggy Lindsay".
*Robbie is said in the film to love cats, but this is never mentioned in the books.
*There is no mention of Uncle Eddie in the film.
*Bob Nicolson is described in the books to have a beard and be overweight, but in the film he does not have either.
*Robbie is the lead singer of the Stiff Dylans in the book, but he is the bass player in the film.
*The Ace Gang attend an all-girl's school in the books, at which they wear berets as part of school uniform, although neither of these aspects are seen in the film

Most of the scenes were filmed on location in Brighton and Eastbourne.
