Detective Constable Stevie Moss is a fictional character in the ITV drama The Bill. She arrived in January 2008 and is played by Lucy Speed. She transferred from SO10, which is the Metropolitan Police's undercover unit.As Stevie is a C.I.D officer she dose not have a call sign and in Radio communications simply Referred to as "DC Moss"

Character creation

In October 2007 it was announced that actress Lucy Speed would be joining the cast of the successful ITV police drama, "The Bill". Speed was previously best known for playing Natalie Evans in BBC's "EastEnders", and she joins a long line of former "EastEnders" stars to appear in "The Bill", including Todd Carty (Mark Fowler/Gabriel Kent), Roberta Taylor (Irene Raymond/Gina Gold), Gillian Taylforth (Kathy Mitchell/Nikki Wright), Louisa Lytton (Ruby Allen/Beth Green), Russell Floyd (Michael Rose/Ken Drummond) and Steven Hartley (Matthew Jackson/Tom Chandler) among others.

Speed plays DC Stevie Moss, a regular character who first appeared on-screen from January 2008. Speaking of her new role, Speed said: "Stevie's such a great character. I'm really looking forward to my first scripts! Stevie's one of those people who you think is really open, but she's just very good at hiding her true feelings and what's going on in her life. I think the really exciting part will be my ride-along days with the real police – it'll be great to see how it all happens." Her third role in the long-running serial drama, Speed had previously appeared in guest roles in 1993 and 2006. Speed has commented, "I've always wanted to get the long term gig here so I'm pleased ... [Stevie Moss comes] from an undercover unit. She's quite girly to look at I suppose; she's not trying to be a boy, but she's quite boyish - she gets stuck in with the fights and she's always got a cheeky answer to everything, and she talks a bit much." *Lucy Speed was originally rumoured to be casted as "DC Cathy Rawlinson" then "DC Stevie Rawlinson" and finally "Cathy Moss" before her name was thought of..
*Rhea Bailey was offered the role of "Moss", she declined but later took the role of PC Mel Ryder
