Westport High School is a comprehensive high school located at 315 East 39th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. It was established in 1907. Westport High School is over 100 years old.

Background

Westport High School is most likely named after Westport, a historic neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri that was originally its own town. It was annexed by Kansas City in 1897. Today, it is one of Kansas City's main entertainment districts. The high school is across the street from Westport Middle School and it opened in the fall of 1908. It was considered the finest school in Kansas City and among the finest in the county, at a cost of nearly $500,000, and being built of stone and vitrified brick. Theater production

Westport High School has partnered with the City International Church to recreate its theater production. The church is helping with drama and other arts programs because it is currently something the school could not provide for years. Its first play was called "Ready: A Hostage Story" by Terry Godard, which was performed on four occasions from November 16 to November 18, 2007. Money from the play went to help redevelop the school's theater production.

Church

In 2005, the City International Church started its Sunday Services in the school auditorium. The service is from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.
