As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 593 people, 223 households, and 159 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 1,329.9 per square mile (508.8/km²). There were 244 housing units at an average density of 547.2/sq mi (209.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.96% White, 0.17% Native American, and 2.87% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.84% of the population.There were 223 households out of which 35.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.6% were married couples living together, 20.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the village the population was spread out with 30.9% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.9 males.
