FC Unirea Tricolor Bucureşti

FC Unirea Tricolor Bucureşti was a Romanian football team that was one of the forerunners of the present-day FC Dinamo Bucureşti.

They were formed in 1926 as a result of the merger between FC Tricolor Bucureşti and CS Unirea Bucureşti. They won one Divizia "A" championship in the 1940-41 season, but unfortunately lost the Romanian FA Cup to Rapid Bucureşti, missing out on the "double".

In the spring of 1948 the Romanian government re-organized the team (with Ciocanul Bucureşti, but kept the same players) as the B-team of the newly-formed FC Dinamo Bucureşti and then re-located them to Braşov in 1949. Following the 1956 season they re-located again to Cluj, only to disappear after the 1957-58 season after being absorbed by Dinamo Bacău.

Before 1932-33 there was no existence of a single national Divizia "A". Seasons consisted of district championships followed by regional championships, which ultimately led to a 5-team playoff set-up to determine the national champion.
