Pointe Coupee Central High School is a public school located in the Labarre area of unincorporated Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, United States, on Louisiana Highway 1.

The school's mailing address is actually listed as Morganza.

History

The school opened in the 1991-92 school year. It was intended to be the only public high school in Pointe Coupee Parish, with all high school students to attend this school. Due to geographical, and political reasons, Livonia High School was also left open. Students who had previously attended Upper Pointe Coupee High School, Rosenwald High School, and Rougon High School were sent to this new combined high school starting in 1991.

In 2008 the school left the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board and became a charter school operated by Advance Baton Rouge. [http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/26856744.html]

Athletics

Pointe Coupee Central High School is a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and competes in a variety of sports. These sports include football, baseball, softball, basketball, track. The school's first football coach was NFL quarterback and Super Bowl XXII MVP, Doug Williams [ [http://en.allexperts.com/q/Washington-Redskins-298/Doug-Williams-Washington-Redskins.htm Washington Redskins: Doug Williams - Washington Redskins ] ] . The current head football coach and Athleic Director is former Glen Oaks and Southern University standout, receiver, Landry Williams. The head boys varsity basketball coach is former PC Central and Northwestern State standout Jameion "Toby" St. Cyr. The Girls Varsity Head coach is former Rosenwald High and Southeastern (SLU) track standout Wendy Joseph Carnes. The Head baseball coach is former PC Central and Prarie View A&M standout Brian Glover.
