Minister of Finance (Finland)

The Minister of Finance of Finland (in Finnish Valtiovarainministeri, in Swedish Finansminister) handles the Finance of Finland and all other matters covered by the Ministry of Finance. The current Minister of Finance is Jutta Urpilainen.

The Ministry of Finance of Finland has two Ministers in the Council of State: Minister of Finance Jutta Urpilainen and Minister of Public Administration and Local Government Henna Virkkunen. According to the official description:

Minister of Public Administration and Local Government Kiviniemi handles matters covered by the Public Management Department, the Personnel Department, the Government Information Management Unit and the Financial Markets Department, but not matters related to international financial institutions, with the exception of the European Investment Bank and the Nordic Investment Bank, and not matters related to government borrowing and debt management. Minister Kiviniemi also handles matters related to customs, the Budget Council of the EU and Government financial controller’s function.

All other matters in the Ministry of Finance are of the responsibility of the Minister of Finance.
