University of Dayton MBA Program

University of Dayton MBA Program

The University of Dayton, a mid-size Catholic university in southwestern Ohio, and the School of Business Administration offer students a Master of Business Administration Program. The MBA Program is the premier AACSB-accredited program in the greater Dayton area and one of approximately 500 worldwide.

About the MBA Program

The UD MBA Program was founded in 1964 and has graduated over 6,500 students. The program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and is named “A Best Business School” by the Princeton Review. For seven out of the past eight years, the UD School of Business Administration team has won the Ohio Graduate Business Student Case Competition.

The innovative program enhances students’ understanding of organizations, challenges students to think critically, and prepares them to compete effectively in a dynamic business environment. The MBA Program is team-focused and combines full-time, doctorally qualified faculty with business executives to help students analyze today’s business problems and practices.

Integrated Curriculum

The MBA curriculum consists of the integrated core, electives, and a two-semester capstone segment. The integrated core classes stress two vital concepts necessary for success in the workplace: critical thinking and communication skills. The capstone segment provides hands-on strategic experiences with local organizations. Student teams work under the guidance of a policy professor and an executive-in-residence. Students may use their electives to develop a concentration in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, management information systems, operations management, marketing, and technology-enhanced business/e-commerce.

Capstone Segment

Throughout the capstone segment, all skills learned in the program are integrated and applied to develop organizational strategies. The capstone segment consists of a semester of strategic stakeholder management coursework followed by a semester-long consulting project with an area organization. Students work in teams to analyze the strategic environment of a firm and develop a series of recommended actions. Students will gain experience in working in a team environment in a non-academic setting, and experience the pressure of delivering a high quality product to company leaders.

Executives-in-Residence

The Executives-in-Residence are business leaders who contribute their talent, insights and expertise to the MBA Program. They bring a unique perspective to the classroom. Some of the Executives-in-Residence include Peter Luongo, former President and CEO of The Berry Company; Richard Flaute, former Chairman, CEO and Owner of Supply One Corporation; Tom Winning, President and CEO of First National Bank of Germantown; Karl Balbach, President and Owner of ProMatch, Inc.; and Ray Lane, Executive Vice-President of MeadWestvaco.
