Carlos Ischia (born October 28 1956 in Buenos Aires) is a former Argentine footballer. He is currently working as the manager of Boca Juniors [ [http://www.26noticias.com.ar/ischia-arreglo-su-contrato-y-es-el-nuevo-dt-de-boca-56738.html 26 Noticias es icon] ] .

Playing career

Ischia played for Chacarita Juniors and Vélez Sársfield in Argentina as well as representing the Argentina national football team [ [http://www.rsssf.com/players/arg-players-6498.html RSSSF Argentina national players] ] .

In 1984 Ischia moved to Colombia where he played for América de Cali and Junior. He retired in 1989 due to injury.

Managerial career

Ischia was field assistant for Carlos Bianchi at Vélez Sársfield and Boca Juniors [ [http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=463461 ESPN Deportes article es icon] ] before becoming first team coach at Vélez.

In 2004 Ischia was appointed as manager of Gimnasia de La Plata. In 2005 he took over at Junior in Colombia, but left later that year due to differences with the directors and constant media pressure [ [http://www.clarin.com/diario/2005/09/13/um/m-1051922.htm Clarin article es icon] ] . In 2007 he was appointed the new manager of struggling Rosario Central [ [http://www.clarin.com/diario/2007/03/26/um/m-01388491.htm Clarin article es icon] ] , but after 14 games of the Apertura 2007 Ischia resigned with the club bottom of the table and perilously close to the automatic relegation places [ [http://www.analisisdigital.com.ar/noticias.php?ed=1&di=0&no=68375 Analasis Digital article] ] .

In December 2007 Ischia was appointed as the new manager of Boca Juniors after the resignation of Miguel Ángel Russo.
