Discovery Park of America is a planned tourist attraction to be located in Union City, Tennessee. This park will sit on 50 acres (20 ha) of land off of Everett Boulevard, near the proposed Interstate 69.
Construction began in July 2008 on the $100 million project, which will feature exhibits and activities on history, nature, military history, art and science. The park is slated to open in Spring 2012. It is financed by Union City-based Robert E. and Jenny D. Kirkland Foundation, which has also has earmarked $2 million a year for 20 years to cover operating costs and buy exhibits.[1]
