SPH MediaWorks Channel i as called by the name Channel i is a defunct Singapore English language television channel which began broadcasting on 20 May 2001. It was formerly known as SPH MediaWorks TV Works as called name TV Works. The channel was owned by SPH MediaWorks, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).

As a result of the media merger with MediaCorp, the channel final broadcasting end closed sign-off shut down[clarification needed] ceased transmission on 1 January 2005, as MediaCorp and Singapore Press Holdings deemed that the channel had no commercial viability because the English television market was so small. The channel's frequency was later taken over by MediaCorp TV12 okto nearly four years later. Restructures

Even before going off the air, the channel's commercial rate was very weak. In 2001, SPH MediaWorks downsized and restructured the channel, and trimmed 73 employees from its workforce of 380. Jamal Hassim, then Chief Operating Officer for TV Works, had resigned that year, leading to the integration of the channel with Mediaworks' more successful Chinese-language channel, Channel U, with both channels being managed by Man Shu Sum, then Chief Operating Officer for Mediaworks.

Rebranding

As the audience found that there was "no need to set another Channel 5", on 1 November 2001 SPH MediaWorks TV Works as TV Works was renamed as SPH MediaWorks Channel i as Channel i began since 2001 targeting a younger audience. After being re-branded, the standard of the channel improved as demonstrated by its news programme winning the Asia Television Award in 2003.

Structure

Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) members include the "seven big" Hollywood studios:

MGM was an MPAA member until 2005, shortly after Sony Pictures Entertainment's failed attempt to buy that studio. Other, smaller studios and distribution companies that are not members of the MPAA avail themselves of the association's rating and title registration services.

From 1966 to 2004, Jack Valenti was MPAA president and strongly associated with the association because of his long tenure and high public profile. Valenti retired on 1 September 2004. Dan Glickman, a former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, now serves as the MPAA chairman and chief executive officer. On 22 September 2005, Glickman named A. Robert Pisano as chief operating officer and president. Kori Bernards is the MPAA's corporate communications vice-president and principal spokeswoman.
