Revolutionary terror

Revolutionary terror is the term from the theory of communism that refers to the institutionalized application of force to the counterrevolutionaries.

Karl Marx wrote: "There is only one way to shorten and ease the convulsions of the old society and the bloody birth pangs of the new - revolutionary terror".Fact|date=October 2007

Among notable examples are the Reign of Terror in France and Red Terror in Soviet Russia.
