It is a Department of Education-recognized National Science high school.
Its old name, Negros Occidental Science High School, was successfully changed after fulfilling the qualifacations and standards of a National-level secondary school. It was formerly announced on June 2010, official resuming date of classes. Major changes were applied to school.
Contents
History
The Negros Occidental National Science High School (NONSHS), formerly known as Negros Occidental Science High School (NOSHS), started its active curriculum on 1997. Freshmen students from all over the Division of Negros Occidental took the entrance exam, which is still followed until present date.

Supreme Student Government
The Supreme Student Government (SSG) is the highest school organization that implements the rules and regulations of the school and follow the activities within the school premises. The SSG Office follows the Department of Education Memorandum and is allowed to implement several memorandum of its own. The Executive Committee is determined through a school-wide election held before the end of the previous academic year. Other committees and its members are decided by the current executives.
The current SSG President is Neil Briean Tingson with the Organization Advisers, Bernard Belleza, Ken Ledesma, and Nelson Escobin.
Beryllus Princeps Science Club
In line with the National Science Club Month under the Presidential Proclamation No. 264, the Negros Occidental National Science High School started its own Science club with the name, Beryllus Princeps Science Club (BPSC). This club hosts the annual Beryllus Princeps Science Month with varying dates from October - February. It is an academic organization, therefore, its officers are chosen by the Adviser and other members are also permitted to join the club through applications and interviews.
The current BPSC President is Lysias Legarde with the Club Adviser, Ma. Melanie Romero.
Societas Linguae et Theatri
The Societas Linguae et Theatri (SLT) is the English club of the Negros Occidental National Science High School, and it is was originally known as Codex Guild. Similar to other academic organizations, its officers are chosen by other non-electoral means. The organization aims to help and improve the skills of the students leadership and teamwork. It also aims to improve the students knowledge towards English and Literature.
SLT Month will be held on the month of November. During this time the armies of Olympus, Atlantis and the Underworld will battle out for the honor of being known as the Almighty Army! During this period, the English-speaking campaign is active and strictly implemented.
The current SLT President is Quennie Zairah Pueblo with the Club Adviser, Ken Ledesma.

The Scholar Publication
The Scholar is the official English publication of the Negros Occidental National Science High School.The current Editor-In-Chief is Aisel Joyce Moyani with the Publication Adviser, Josanlo Caldera.
Mathematics Club (Scitamehtam)
The Mathematics Club is one of the academic organizations, promoting effective and efficient learning on Mathematics, of the Negros Occidental National Science High School. The club also hosts Mathematics competitions for the Freshmen students and provides voluntary review lessons for the student body. The club also engages the students to other activities to have a comprehensive learning in Mathematics. The club does not have its official celebration as of now.
The current Math Club President is Katrina Mae Palaganas with the Club Adviser, Bernard Belleza.
Gintong Hiyas Club
The Gintong Hiyas Club, formerly known as the Filipiñana Club, is the Filipino Club of the Negros Occidental National Science High School. The clubs aims to promote nationalism and patriotism to the school, with the versing of the Filipino Language. The club also holds the Buwan ng Wika, for the student body to engage in various activities on a nationalistic view.
The current Gintong Hiyas President is Bianca Nicole Flores with the Club Adviser, Sheila Buenconsejo.
Ang Lampara
The 'Ang Lampara' is the official Filipino publication of the Negros Occidental National Science High School under the Filipino Club, Gintong Hiyas. The current Editor-In-Chief is Joel Andrada Jr. with the Adviser, Sheila Buenconsejo.
Youth for Environment in Schools Organization
The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) is a civic organization of the Negros Occidental National Science High School that promotes environmental awareness and protection, disaster management and reaction, and the view of our present-day environment and global status. Its Executive Committee, before, was similar to the Beryllus Princeps Science Club but was changed to have its different set of officers in 2008. This rule was later changed (due to the change to National-level) to have the committee undergo an electoral process.
The club also participates in various advocacies for the environment, such as the National YES-O Camp and various tree planting and cleanup drives. The club is also active in solid waste management and segregation in school and has an absolute committee in the Supreme Student Government office. The club also hosts the annual Environment Week celebration.
The current YES-O President is Rey Anthony Serrano with the Club Advisers, Madonna Decena, Philip Villanueva, and Ma. Melanie P. Romero.
Sports Club
The Sports Club is one of the civic organizations of the Negros Occidental National Science High School, promoting physical fitness and sports engagement. The club hosts the annual Intramural games for the student body. The current Sports Club President is Ydsan Franz Dongon with the Club Adviser, Philip Villanueva.
